JUICING FOR HEALTH

One of the most important things you can do for your health is to get as many nutrients into you as you can. Today more than ever we are seeing disease rates rise to an overwhelming rate and especially cancer rates, they are rising to be one in two people, a scary statistic but trust me it doesn't have to be that way. Immune systems are really struggling today and according to the World Health Organisation, current evidence, between 30% and 50% of cancer deaths could be prevented by modifying or avoiding key risk factors, including avoiding tobacco products, reducing alcohol consumption, maintaining a healthy body weight, exercising regularly and addressing infection-related risk factors.

One way not to be a statistic is to start looking after yourself and one way to do that is to juice fresh vegetables, yep I said it, veggie juices. When I looked into healing my body after a cancer diagnosis, I read a lot about juicing for health, I read many books on the subject and I especially liked one, Dr Norman Walkers Fresh vegetable and fruit juice book. In the book it had many combinations of different juices for different health ailments and I thought well I may as well give it a go. I went out not knowing anything about how to heal and brought a cold press juicer from a local health food shop and may I add I dont think I had ever walked into such a shop before. I went home with a bag of organic carrots and some green apples, ginger and lemon and that was the start of my juicing experience. I was a little taken back how nice it tasted until one day I got gamer and added Kale, beetroot, radish etc and thought holy hang it I am sure going to die because I dont think I could stand drinking that stuff!!!!! but with a little perseverance and a desperation to live, i swallowed that damn liquid while holding my nose tight, so I couldn't taste that dark scent. The juice alone did not cure me, instead it gave my body a lot of the vitamins and minerals that it needed to help heal.

Well that was over ten years ago and one of the many things that I still do to this day is fresh vegetable juices. It not only makes me feel good but I know I am doing my body and health a favour with every sip. You dont have to wait for a cancer diagnosis, look after yourself now, disease is easier to prevent than to turn around, so let today be the day for you.
